Keene, H. 1980 1 May (cont.) 9368.5 - as we are heading out to the dune road on Palm Canyon Rd., a DOR pituophis since we came out this morning. Now 1648h. Thick grass, Shiplex. 9369.6 - turn N. on Paslog Rd. 9371.2 - turn ESE on sandy road. 371.4 - fork at large trees, go right, then left at second (immediate) fork. 372.0 - turn around. Saw only a few lma and 2 Phymosaura lurdio - 1 w/ red ants & 1 w/ red and black ants. 372.7 - back to fork by big trees (1748h) only a few small lma seen in last few minutes. Sun behind clouds. Going down sand road to the #555. 372.8 - start down original rd. again. 373.5 - turn around. 374.3 - Paslog Rd - 1832 h, turn S. 375.9 - turn E to dump. 376.3 - turn E into dunes. About 2000h there was a tremendous storm w/ lightning, thunder, hail, and so much rain that the streets were several inches deep w/in a few minutes. Lasted on and off for more than an hour. We drove to Paslog Rd. & back ~2100 h but saw nothing.
