Theresa, H. 1980 May 1 (cont.) while I was holding it, it escaped. Saw several Uta along roadside and I noosed one. At the parking area of the Big Dunes we saw a large Cnemidophorus and found where a cerastes had crawled out of a burrow, made a pit and returned to a burrow. Photographed it. Saw numerous Uma (couldn't get close to them) and several Dipsozaurus (cought 1 od & 1 jaw). Kristine found 1 Phrynosoma full w/ large black art in it. I tried to noose an Uma that went in a burrow. Twice after 2-3 minute intervals it reappeared at the mouth, but couldn't get it. Left at 1203 hs. It was hot & sunny till about 20 minutes ago - now overcast. Next west N. on Posley Rd to R turn on sandy rd. Saw many Dipsozaurus, some Uma & Callisaurus. Looks like a good road. Put red flag where we turned around to return (9352.6) 9352.7 - I spotted a Urosaurus gracilis basking 21m up on edge of an Atriplex. Missed it but noosed another (?) in same bush. 9353.5 - Turn S. on Posley R. (Where telephone line crosses Posley Rd.). 9355.0 - Jct. Palen Canyon Rd.
