East of large dune in the bombing range to the W
crosses the road here. Walk around for 30 min.
Kristine caught a Uta, saw a Callisaurus, and
saw cf. Dipsozaurus scat. Creosote bushes
very widely spaced, not much other vegetation.
No tracks of lizards or cerastes. Some
evidence of rodents (burrows, flushes) but
lizards seem very scarce. We turn around.
889.9 - photo ? ground squirrel eating
900.6 - very DOR large Pituophis.
905.1 - Turn W. on Hwy 80.
907.7 - photo of juvenile Dipsozaurus in burrow entrance.
920.0 - nice white dune crosses road here. Very windy
and overcast, and we saw nothing.
922.9 - Jct Hwy 2
923.2 - Turn N. on Shell Canyon Rd. (N of Ocotillo).
924.0 - Stop for photo of ocotillo in bloom.
Saw cf. Callisaurus. Quite a lot of sand here.
928.9 - West to end of pavement on Shell Canyon Rd.,
now track at Hwy 2 & turning W.
931.4 - Turn N. on un-paved paved road;

Very windy, chilly, saw one ? Sceloporus orcutti
flat on a boulder in sun. 1640.
