Gilmore 1926. San Felipe S.L. Lower Calif. Mexico. March 25, 1926. slipped & partially severed the neck. Silently it is a nocturnal lizard which investigated [to its] rear) the disturbance at its front door. Went hunting with Mr. Lamb and had pretty good luck though the birds were few and far between. we ran into a flock of Brewer's Sparrows & got two. The rest of about three hours was spent in beating the scrubby brush for a close shot for Jack Rabbits. While doing this we obtained the rest of our birds. I killed a Woodpecker while it was sitting on a low scrubby bush, at least a half mile away from any good sized tree. Turning to the beach we I shot a Ring Billed Gull as it was flying past. Lamb then stripped and swam out in the water. While he was in the water he attracted some Elegant Terns & I quickly killed three in almost as many shots. They were evidently attracted by the sight of Lambs flailing kicking
