Arriving here at about 130 P.M. after
5 hrs. of traveling from Vallejo.
Went hunting in the late afternoon
and took one Rupile megalo?, maculatus
megalonyx, one immature Lawrence
Goldfinch and a pair Q Willow Goldfich,
besides seeing numerous Troglodytes albon
parkmanii some Junco oleyannus townsendi
Uphelcoma california obscura and
California Woodpeckers. In one place
I sat down next to some wet ground
my oak trees and commenced squeaking
on the back of my hand to attract some
birds for more were to be seen. After
a few minutes of peeping a few Troglodytes
albon parkmanii came hopping to a
nearby oak where they hopped hopped
about uttering their guttural piping.
Squeaking. In a few minutes I was
surrounded by eight or ten of the
social little birds which continually
hopped about # and every so often
emitted the same low toned song. Not
once did I hear them break into their
more joyful song which they
frequently use.
