Dryobates villosus tyloscopus ♀ 52.8-6. killed from lower part of trunk of large pine near stream. I killed two Sciurus today along an accustomed path of mine. They attracted my attention by their barking & scurrying about in a tree near the trail & it was a matter of but a few minutes to secure them! I had been going over the same trail both morning and evening for the last ten days and I had not ever hear them before so they must be quite extensive traveler. Mr. Garrett & Kitans, our packers come today so we shall leave tomorrow instead of the day after tomorrow, as planned.
