Calxico, Imperial Co. California. April 21. We took on one of the newcomers and transferred half our load to the Mexicali truck keeping the specimens on our truck. Then by our trail breaking we got thru the mud after much hard work and worry over the broken spring. Made El Mayor about 3.00 P.M. and after eating our fill and making more substantial repairs on the front spring we started out for Mexicali 45 miles away over better roads. Arrived at Mexicali at 6.30. Saw some Cottontail Rabbits, Turkey Vultures, Ravens, Phainopeplas Gumbel's Guail, Swallows and Flycatchers.
