April 22. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0830 Serviced instruments at Behavior Lab. Weather 9/10 CU, few AC, very light winds.
April 23. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1840 at pen in Behavior lab. Weather clear and calm. Sun behind hills, so that pen and surrounding tall Eucalyptus trees were completely shadowed, with light intensity decreasing quite rapidly. By 1915 dusk was too deep to distinguish any quail which might appear; left for post. Sunset 1852.
April 26. Berkeley, Alameda Co. 0600 Noted quail on Miller Ave in Berkeley Hills. At Strawberry Canyon Behavior Lab 0618. Weather clearing after intermittent rain beginning before light yesterday morning. Sun beginning to break through clouds over Grizzly peak and fog remaining in the canyon center. Otherwise sky with 3/10 cirrus and some CU over Bay and coastal hills, no wind. At 0627 the first sunshine on the ground.
