Arrived at pen in Behan lot 0918; weather overcast with CU and SC, rain intermittent in light and moderate showers since noon yesterday. Light rain falling at 0918, stopped at 0927. Wind practically dead calm, occ. light breeze. Ground very wet from past rains. Humidity sat. 100%. 0934 as sun appeared, 6 birds in sight in area E-1. Black & yellow ?? close together, then a pair very close together, and two ?? separated a few feet. 03 ? and 05 ? emerged from low clover at 0937. Birds are engaged in preening & ruffling feathers. 0940 Sun behind clouds, but sky still bright. Ended obs. at 1024. April 16. Strawberry Canyon Alameda County 1125 Serviced instrument and removed battery. Weather over CU, light wind. 1515 Returned with replacement battery as a very heavy shower passed to the west, giving only light rain and some soft hail at this station.
