W.J. Francis 1963 26. Journal March 28, Camatti Canyon, San Luis Obispo County. Bird was leaving west and saw the other (presumed ?) soaring nearby. Took station on hill in upper San Juan overlooking a steep canyons to look for cardas; no success. At 1430 drove down Navajo Canyon & saw a Cardor perched on dead stump, observed it until 1700 and returned to the McMillan Ranch. March 29. McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo County. 0545 Weather - sky obscured, surface fog with visibility less than 1/4 mile. Sun broke through temporarily at 0610 for about 5 minutes, showing blue sky, then closed in again. From local conditions I judge this to be true fog rather than a stratus cloud capping the hills, since the valley below were thicker and top was not too far up. Sun again at 0730. Checked hygrothermograph clock - still seems a little slow (having been set to maximum "fast" setting last night).
