FR-126. Aug. 12, 1963. Pen in Beharin lab. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. Erect herb 3-4 feet tall, single unbranched stem in younger specimen, branched near the top only in the larger. Distribution: scattered among other Compositae mostly in areas formerly with Medicago and Vicia. Flower heads bright yellow, only partially opened. Madia sativa Chile Tarweed. FR-127. Aug. 12, 1963. Pen in Beharin lab, as above. Erect herb 3-4 feet tall, extremely prickly throughout, purple flower heads. Single stem at base, moderately branched in upper half. Scattered over the area in association with other Compositae. Cirsium lanceolatum Bull Thistle
