FR-113. Spreading woody shrub, much
branched from base 3 1/2 feet tall;
stems very brittle - apparently dead, but
with fresh leafy stems growing
from them. No flowers, but with Salvia
like seed pods on a few stems.
Growing on east facing slope
of Patagonica Canyon here co-dominant
with sagebrush. Many limbs of these
clumps are quite dead. (March 29,
McMillan Ranch).

Low shrub growing at base of tree
above, rather woolly herbage. Flowers
bright orange red terminal on
soft herbaceous stems, in a
panicle becoming a rather dense
tuft terminally.
