FR-109. Woody shrub, 3 1/2 feet tall, thin brittle branches, lower are nearly prostrate, many stems much branched near base. Foliage variable on main stems from same root system, very similar to Haplopappus. No flowers, new growth on lower part of branches terminating in panicles of last years fruits. Semi-prostrate woody shrub, main stem lying on ground, with branches at all angles including vertical. No flowers, last years fruits terminal in dead ends of twigs. Small, entire, alternate leaves dull gray-green, somewhat ciliaceous. On same hillside as above species, but much less frequent.
