Checked magnetic declination on chart - 16 1/2 deg E. Oriented board holding red wire (grass) sensor to extend due south. 1455. Cumulus clouds in - crossing all afternoon have become overcast, with rain visible to the west. Few very light showers intermittent 1505 - 1525. No gnat seen or heard in and around Oval Hollow and ridge to south. Clouds becoming broken after 1525. Brush on above slope composed of Ceanothus cuneatus and Aderostema fasciculatum. Bare ground beneath for the most part except for regularly spaced Pedicularis densiflora (Indian Warrior).
