Dec.14 Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. scattered a can of grain in the pen. 0840 Serviced traps. 1630 Returned to check traps again, and left them both unnet, so that birds may become accustomed to them without the trauma of capture. Reinstalled hygrothermograph at 1655. Weather overcast st with indefinite base and mist over the hills, light intermittent rain and drizzle, no wind. Dec.18 0935 Weather at Behavior lab. pen - sky obscured in base of stratus over the hills, intermittent light rain, Ground & vegetation very wet from last night's rain. Calm, visibility 200 yards. Scattered a can of grain, mostly in A1 to A3. Serviced rain gauge .16", total 6.73", set and baited the two quail traps outside of the Behavior lab, and saw & heard quail in the brush ween trap #2. Newly sprouted forbs in the enclosure now appear to be Medicago by their form, although no flowers or fruits as yet for definite identification. They are quite widespread.
