H.L.M.R., Monterey County... delay due to running out of gas, began a tour of the Argyle Road gnuil area. 1207 Took station at guzzler "TP", having counted 20 deer along the road in about 8 miles, mostly well travelled highway. Most were does with fawns, one doe with twins several fawns without a mother in sight. Area around the guzzler shows sign of use, several animal trails, and are dusting place with gnuil tracks. Observed 30 minutes, until 1237. Continued around back road to A.S.P., covering 5 road miles along the back roads. Left Hunter Liggert about 1:20 p.m, arrived home 4:50 pm, mileage 57604. Total trip mileage 709. Aug. 28. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. at Beharin Hall. pen at 1000, weather overcast with thinning ST over the hills, base est. 503 above station, moderate wried with slight turbulence. Water hole empty. Filled water hole, spread grain, moistened & stirred up dusting place. Removed Taylor hypothermograph.
