After lunch drove to the ranch of Mr. Everett Hatch, 7 miles south of Cholame on Annette Road, and obtained data on rainfall this year from January on. Returned to ranch at 1445, mileage 57286. Carratti Canyon 1620. Took station near "gallinaceous guzzler" 9 road miles up the canyon from San Juan Creek crossing. Observed the area from the car until 1722. McMillan Ranch 1900 to 1950 observed quail near old house left for Hunter Liggett Military reservation at 2020, mileage 57318 and arrived at 2150, mileage 57395'. Aug. 21. Hunter Liggett Military Reservation, Monterey County. 0700 From Camp site in back of mission observed quail & turkey mixture (q.v.). Then checked in to game management office; no re- placement for Fred Cook has been obtained so management is at a standstill. Sgt.
