W.J. Francis 1964. 50. Journal Aug. 5. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. foot the shrub area west of the station which was formerly home range & a large coyot. Building operations have taken over about half the area. No quail were seen or heard. Saw two feral cats and started a doe near the edge of the Baccharis; then saw two fawns in the brush nearby. Aug. 6. 0615 at Behavior hel. pen two minutes before sunrise - weather clear, light northeasterly wind, stratus visible over the coast. 0711 First rays of sun visible on Grizzly Peak; trees uphill from the pen are fully illuminated. 0716 Sunshine reaching the ground in the pen along the upper edges. 0735 Patch of AC in SE sky, 2/10 cover. 0820 Ended shut observations, entered pen to service traps; took one Microtus (total 41) and reset traps. Left station at 0840. Aug. 7. 0900 at Behavior hel. pen, weather 4/10 CU above 4000 feet, light SE ly wind. Serviced traps, took 6 Microtus (total 47) and one lizard. 0940 serviced hygrograph
