July 26. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
another reduction by trapping is
indicated. Death at 1100 is
clear stratus along the hillside
having just cleared in this area;
light variable winds.
July 28. At Behavior Lab. pen at
1040; filled water hole and spread
grain in the pen. Weather clear,
very light wind. Sun low, illum-
nating about half the ground area
of the pen. Observed birds from the
observation hut until 1040. 1925
Sun is now completely gone from
all parts of the pen, but still
shining on upper half of the
surrounding trees.
July 30. 1355 at Behavior Lab. pen
Weather clear (after thick stratus
all morning), light winds. Set
30 live-traps for mice, all just to
the left of the observation hut
where workings are very numerous.
1530 Removed 4 Microtus from traps
and reset all traps.
1945. Returned to pen; clear and
light wind; sun only on tops of
surrounding trees. Observed from
