This was an adult bird, and was released, and trap left open until new smaller mesh trap can be installed. 1507 Left Berkeley (home) for Hastings Reservation, mileage 35575. Arrived Hastings about 1830, mileage 35719, elapsed distance 144 miles. March 4. Hastings Reservation Carmel Valley, Monterey County, Calif. 0630 Weather, Clear, calm. Light frost over grass in bottom of valley, not under shelter of trees. Td 31° Tw 27° RH 58%(?), at 4'. Looking for quail in vicinity of houses. 0728 Sunshine now covering completely east facing slopes. Psychron reading at 4" in frosty field 32°24°; RH 24%o, at 4' Td 24° Tw 32° (wick frozen). At 4'1' Td 30°. Under nearest Chamise on hillside 32°. Edge of brush patch where quail were flushed earlier 31.5° F.
