W.J. Francis 1964. Journal. May 30. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 855. Weather at Behavior lab: clear, light southerly wind with no turbulence, visibility 5 miles. Spread a can of grain, filled water hole & commenced observations of penned birds at 1907. May 31. 1145 At Behavior Lab. Weather: obscured in ST cloud over the hills with base variable about 500 feet below station; light southerly wind with slight turbulence; visibility 50-100 yards. Ground wet with fog drip under eucalyptus trees, and fallen weeds also wet with intercepted moisture. June 1. 1000 at Behavior lab pen. Weather 1/10 CU and fracto-ST, light to moderate westerly wind, slight turbulence. On approaching the station, a small doe crossed Grizzly Peak Blvd. just ahead of us then a small fawn, about 15" tall followed - so young as to be a little unsteady on its feet. At the quail pen I saw another doe with a slightly larger fawn just outside the enclosure fence.
