W.J. Francis 1964 38. Journal May 19. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1210. At Behavior Lab. pen. Weather fair, 4/10 CU (or broken-up ST), light to moderate westerly winds with slight turbulence. May 20. 0915 at Behavior Lab. pen. Weather overcast ST and SC, few breaks, variable low ST in canyons on west slopes. Intermittent rain during last night & early morning, all vegetation very wet. Very light wind. Serviced rain gage (0.04") checked nest. In contrast to wet vegetation, only the surface of the soil is wet and that not much more than dampened. May 21. 0930 at Behavior Lab. pen, weather overcast ST with many breaks, very light SWly winds. Nest in B-6 unchanged, removed all eggs (including 2 found on ground) to Miwako Tamura, in Behavior Group, to incubate & determine viability.
