W.J. Francis 1964. 25. Journal. March 17. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1500 Serviced traps at the Behavin Lab, 18 mice (mostly small Microtues) and 1 cat in trap outside the pen. Weather clear, light wind, slight turbulence. Placed Foxboro probes in ice-bath for calibration. 1552 Completed reflecting traps, 6 each in areas A-1 through E-1, covering the upper 1/10 of the pen. Scattered 1/2 can of grain. March 18. 1220 Serviced trap - 4 mice only. Reset traps 6 each in A2 to E2. Removed dead cat from box trap, took to Ward Russell in MUZ. March 19. 1430 Serviced traps, 7 mice; reset in areas A-3 to E-3. Removed large instrument shelter & returned with the Foxboro instrument to Ent. dept. (George Tamaki) March 20. Vernal equinox. Weather at Behavin lab. overcast CU, threatening showers; moderate to fresh westerly winds with stray turbulence. 1345- Serviced traps, 8 mice, are song-sparrows. Reset in areas A4 to E4.
