W.J. Francis 1964 Journal. Feb.20 Strawberry Canyon Alameda Co. 0850 Weather at Behavior Labr. Clear, excellent visibility, strong turbulent easterly wind. Serviced traps. Set box trap for cats just outside the fence of the pen. Left station 0915. 1725. Checked traps, no quail. Feb.21. 0850 checked traps, no quail. Weather clear, very light wind with no turbulence, excellent visibility. Water hole is completely dried up but grass + other vegetation quite green. Placed a pan of water in the quail walk-in trap. Mice still very abundant. Feb.22 1020. Weather at Behavior Labr. clear, moderate wind with slight turbulence. No quail in traps in the pen, so re-located it in area E-10 between growing eucalyptus and dead brush in the corner. Baited with 3/4 can of grain and a pan of water. The water hole in the center of the pen is quite dry.
