Heard quail in artificial roost near the ranch house, & saw them leave, flying in a bunch at the same time, not many remaining. Set the trap in the back of the ranch house, no results during breakfast. 0800 Moved this trap behind brush pile near the edge of the gully and re- started and set, then checked traps at the old house, and relocated the large trap next to the old granary cistern, in- side the enclosed area. 1530 to 1615 Banded 42 quail plus 3 recaptures in McMillan's trap in back of ranch house - catch #3. 1630 to 1650 Serviced traps near old granary - 7 birds catch # 4. Relocated smaller trap inside the old cistern. Left these two set. Jan 25. McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co. 0845 Serviced trap in back of ranch house - 22 birds including 3 re- captures, catch # 5. Then checked traps near old granary - two birds recaptured, catch #6.
