Journal Jan. 13, Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co., hole in the pen is now quite dry, and the tips of grass still somewhat yellow - however there is still plenty of greenery and I did not refill the water hole. Jan. 14. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0900 serviced rain gage in Behavior Lab. pen (0.23" since 1600 yesterday). Weather clear with excellent visibility, light to moderate northerly winds with slight turbulence. Relaited and set the two traps in the same locations: #1 just inside Behavior Station near the west gate; #2 within the Baccharis brush over the hill toward the Rad. Lab., west of the Behavior Station. Built around both traps was com- pletely eaten. Ground is wet and bare clay very gummy; frost or low vegetation and rocks in shadow, vegetation in the sunshine still wet. Jan. 15. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0825-0925 serviced traps (25 quail), set and related. Left trap.
