W.J. Francis 1963. 141. Journal. Dec. 11. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0815 Weather at Behavior Lab. pen: Clear skies cold + crisp moderate wind with moderate turbulence. Spread 1 can of grain in the pen mostly in D-3,4. Pre- Baited areas outside of the pen showed little or no signs of use, one apparently used a little by sparrows. Prebaited 2 other areas outside the Behavior Lab. at 050. Wind stronger and more turbulent. Dec. 13. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0845 Weather at Behavior Lab. pen: clear + cold, light to moderate wind locally with moderate turbulence; slipng wind in exposed locations. Scattered are cans of grain in the pen. Then checked Pre-baited areas outside - some use evident in two spots near population pens, almost all grain eaten in clearing below there, and all gone at the edge of Bacchais patch near recently bulldozed roadbed. 0945 Set up folding trap in the pen, closed the entrance + set two mouse- traps inside.
