W.J. Francis 1963 139. Journal. Dec. 5. Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co. Checked and serviced traps in the morning beginning at 0750. Since there was still no sign of use of the trap near the pump and water tank, I relocated it in quail hollow 50 paces up from trap Q (at the base of the large ceracothus); baited + set this trap. Weather this morning 9/10 thin cirrus , about 4/10 AC-AS; gradually increased to overcast by 1230, still thin enough to see the sun's disc. From 1300 to 1400 I again made a round of the traps, + trapped the 18 quail in trap B-1. By 1500 the overcast could be seen to be a band of cloud moving eastward, and by 1530 only 1/10 sky cover remained. Dec. 6. Hastings Reservation Monterey Co. 0750 Weather bright and sunny but with very thin cirrus overcast with breaks; later a heavier band of AS moved over, clearing entirely by 1400.
