W.J. Francis 1963 133. Journal. Nov. 20, Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0815 at Behavin Lab. pen. Weather 8/10 SC, concentrated over the hills, clear over the Bay. Very light wind, no turbulence. Ground + vegetation very wet after last night's rain (0.75" ). Serviced rain gage. Installed new entrance funnel to trap, baited with 1/2 can of grain, and set it. By 0845 sky became overcast with ST and SC at about 4000 feet. Noted a Song-sparrow in the trap - it left through the 1" wires with no difficulty. 0925 ended observations for this morning, leaving the trap set. 1615 Checked trap + found it empty, left it set after checking birds in the pen. Nov. 21. Strawberry Canyon Alameda County. 0820 at the Behavin Lab. pen. Weather clear and calm, excellent visibility. Added 1/2 can of grain around the trap, and observed the penned birds from the hut. Occul. moderate gusts of wind. At 0850 ended observations and left the pen leaving the trap set. 1018 Resumed observations. Weather
