W. J. Francis 1963. 131. Journal Nov. 11 Strawberry Canyon Alameda Co. 0815 at Behavior Lab. pen. Weather clear with strong + turbulent easterly wind. Serviced traps and instruments. Scattered 1/2 can of grain around the pen, the other half can baited the trap while I left unset. Left pen at 0905. Nov. 14 Strawberry Canyon Alameda Co. 0830 at Behavior Lab. pen. Weather: station obscured in clouds, base est. 300' below station visibility 50 yards. Intermittent light rain at this time, occl. heavy rain earlier this morning. Fresh to strong southerly wind, moderate turbulence. Serviced rain gage (0.39") and scattered two of cans of grain - 1 can in areas A-1 and A-2, in the vicinity of relocated unset trap. Noted a strong "mousy" odor in the observation hut - no signs of rodents inside. Observed birds in the pen until 0940. Severe thunderstorm W.
