W. J. Francis 1963 131. Journal Nov. 6. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County, 0940 at Behavin Lab. pen. Scattered 1 can of grain + set the trap in the pen; serviced rain gage, & observed grain in the pen. Weather overcast with heavy towering Cu, showers in sight to the west. Heavy showers with hail occurred before 0700 this morning, & intermittent light to very heavy rain all yesterday after- noon. Wind has been moderate to strong turbulent. By 1015- the heavier clouds had moved off and blue sky appeared in patches in the west- 1045. Numerous breaks in the clouds but new clouds are moving in. I entered the pen to take birds out of the trap. Nov. 10. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1630 at Behavin Lab. pen. Serviced rain gage, set trap & baited with one can of grain. Weather 4/10 As, light wind with moderate turbulence. Sunlight on upper halves of surrounding trees; none on any part of the pen at this time. Took birds in trap, weighed & examined, left trap set. left. 1720.
