W. J. Francis 1963. 126. Journal. Oct. 29. Left Berkeley at 1035, mileage 46986. Bought color film at Oakland PX, $3.10. Arrived at Hastings Reservation 1535, having stopped to bait and set the two traps near the bridge. The trap near the Bell house was set & baited (by Jim Bell), and I set the other three traps - in front of the white house, in Quail Hollow back of the Davis house, and near the water pump. Six deer (does. I well grown javros) were loafing under the trees along the gully and did not move when I passed within less than 50 feet! In the evening a birthday party for Gary Trempfer, with Dr. & Mrs. Lowell Adams plus all the residents of the Reservation & Carol (?), Betty Davis' assistant. Turkey dinner & the works! Oct. 30. Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co. 0715 Checked the three traps near the headquarters area, & replenished gain eater by magpies, towhees, and cottontails. One cottontail in the trap in front of the white house.
