W. J. Francis 1963. 125. Journal Oct. 23. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 0850 at Behavin Lab pen; weather 9/10 Cl, few Cu and Sc! Very light wind no turbulence, excellent visibility. Ground saturated and vegetation wet from last night rain. Serviced rain gage & set the trap inside the pen. 1620. Checked trap again - no birds. Oct. 24. 0910 serviced trap in the pen, then pruned encalyptus which were growing through the top of the pen & overhanging the instrument shelters. Filled water hole and scattered another full grain can 1/2 grain (2 day ration); left trap unset. Completed at 1050. Oct. 28. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County 0815 checked Behavin lab pen and found that trap had been inadvertently left set on last visit & contained 5 birds - all good conditions. Scattered two cans 1/2 grain, filled water hole, & left trap unset. Serviced instruments & left at 0905. Day light Saving Time ended yesterday; these times are P.S.T.
