advisor, reporting on experiments at the
Walter Johansen farm in Santa Clara
County, on controlled lighting in
pullet houses to increase production
of eggs by 10 per hen (40 cases
extra by 1165 hens in 203 days).
At 8 weeks pullet restricted
to eight hours of artificial light in
24 hours. At 12 weeks reduced to
6 hours of light. At 20 weeks
pullets put in laying house on 14
hours of light.
