side the pen, and check pans of grain:
Pigeon Grain 3/4 consumed, Hen
Chow 1/2 or less consumed. Did not
remain for observations of penned birds.
1700 Weather at Behavior lab.
clear, light wind, slight turbulence.
1720 Shadows now covering 3/4 of ground
in the pen, pictures only possible if a
bird perches on B-7 eucalyptus, so
ended obs.
Sept. 9. Strawberry Canyon Alameda County.
0940. Weather at Behavior lab - Obscured
in ST covering the Bay Area, thicker
on the hills, base about 600' below
the station; dense cloud with
no indication of sun appearing
throughout. Visibility 50 yards.
Very heavy fog drip plus light
drizzle (rain-gage 0.02"). Re-
plenished food & water in the pen
and serviced instruments. At 1020,
leaving the lab., cloud base had
lifted to about 100 feet below the station,
and appeared from below to be still
quite thick, and composed partly
of sc.
