W. J. Francis 1963. Journal Sept. 4. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1045 At Behavin Lab. pen. Weather: sky obscured by ST blanketing hills on the bay side, base from 0 to 50 feet above the ground surface, fog occaily showing through. Visibility 100 yards to 1/2 mile as local cloud shifts occur. Moderate wind with light turbulence. Serviced trap and commenced observation of birds in the pen at 1100, until 1150. 1610. At Behavin Lab again to check trap and observe birds in pen. Released Scrub Jay from trap. Weather continued obscured with ST blanketing hillside, now heavier than this morning, wind about the same. Several Chestnut-backed Chickadees now inside the pen, at water & feed pans. Sept. 5. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County 0900 Weather at the Behavin Lab: obscured with ST covering bay and hills, base 800' below station and dense above. Visibility 50 yards. Active fog drip, not very heavy, and light dew on ground vegetation. Nearly calm. Slight shower about 0840 in Berkeley. Filled water hole, released Scrub Jay from trap out -
