W. J. Francis 1963. 105- Journal. Aug. 28, H.L.M.R., Monterey County, Calif. gas, and left for McMillan Ranch at 1210 (mileage 44828). Arrived at McMillan Ranch almt 1400, (mileage 44908). 1600 went to blind at Marim Spring, rigged awning, & repaired screening where ripped by cattle chewing the furlap. Observed from 1630 to 1737, interrupted for 38 minutes by cattle watering. Weather clear with light wind. [Note from weather log: July 25 - Changed chart at 1900. Aug. 1 - Changed chart at 1200. Observed quail at the water hole from 0753 until 0930 while Guiger was observing at another spring 200 yards down the canyon. Walked down to second spring and back, and made field observations at 1005. Estimated a total of 790 quail were seen this morning. 11/15 to 12:15 made collecting trip
