Hastings Reservation, Monterey County rough sizes, from 6"x8" to 8"x10" Left Hastings at ## 1342 (mileage 44692) and arrived at Hunter Higgett Military Reservation at 1510 (mi. 44753), and were given quarters in the Nacienda, Room 1-C (large room with twin beds, no private bath, and refrigerator). Made a road census from 1800 to 2000 over the same route as a previous visit, covering 8.7 road miles, and also investigating three water points more closely for quail. Aug. 28. Hunter Higgett Military Reservation, Monterey County, California. Made a road census by car along 7.3 miles, same area as before, flushing coverys where encountered near the road, from 0725 to 0925. On return to HQ, checked out of the Hacienda and took back road to Wilmot's Road at the north end of the Reservation, and as far as "Wagon Caves" in Las Peñas National Forest.
