W. J. Francis 1963. Journal. Aug. 20. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. moderate turbulence, entire pen in full sunshine. Ended observations at 1646. Aug. 22. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0848 at Behavior Lab. pen. Weather - overcast ST, station just above the cloud base, visibility 1/2 mile. Mod- erate wind, moderate turbulence. Last night minimum temperature in green probe was 52. Circumrected, set, and baited walk-in trap outside the pen, near the north corner. Commenced observations from the hut at 0932. Wind turbulence occasionally quite strong; cloud base lifted to about 200' above the station, visibility locally fair est. 3 miles. No dew or the ground level vegetation. Ended observations at 1002. 1415 Resumed observations. Weather clear except for few remnants of ST, wind same as earlier. Checked walk-in trap at 1500, no birds or sign of bait being taken. 1528 sky 7/10 covered with newly forming SC; ended observations.
