W.J. Francis 1963 98. Journal Aug. 14. Berkeley, Alameda County. Anthemis cotula Mayweed - scattered plants, some completely dried up, others still flowering. Seeds too small for quail food. Medicago Melilotus indica sweet clover - both completely dried and a few partly green and flowering plants. Very abundant, fairly large seeds, shatter very readily from stems providing abundant available food. Aster chilensis common aster - scattered plants, few associated with Anthemis. Seeds small not apparently source of quail food. Aug. 14. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1235 Took station at Behavioral Lab. pen. Weather clear, moderate wind with slight turbulence. 1300 Turbulence now classed as moderate, with consid-erable motion even in low vegetation. 1350 Ended observations. Cut tall weeds in A and B rows, leaving Medusa and new plants not yet flowered. Filled water hole and left pen at 1420.
