W.J. Francis 1963. Journal. Aug. 5. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. Weather clear, moderate to light wind, slight turbulence. 1215. Serviced instruments and filled water hole. Aug. 7. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. At Belkair Lab. Few drawing quad beginning at 0630. Weather clear and very light wind; ST layer just below the station. 0643 ST clouds building up and commencing to drift into pen area from the west. 0706 ST buildup has reduced local visibility to less than 100 yards, although blue sky + a patch of sun on a tree top is visible to the east. 0712 ST clearing in east half of sky as first rays of sun appeared over Grizzly Peak. 0736 Sky now mostly clear except for ST per- sisting to the west; bright sun in patches in the pen, which is mostly shaded by surrounding trees. 0753 Checked instrument operation, and discontinued observations.
