Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1020 Set and baited modified Barley trap in the center of the pen. 1100 First bright sunshine as clouds beginning to clear; wind somewhat strange with slight turbulence. 1150 Discontinued observation after a brief search in the pen. Most of the tall grass, as well as all Medicago and Vicia has dried up and mostly fallen to ground, leaving the weed patches more open, but with 5 or 6 species of Compositae now blooming; these are tall & vigorous, but much less crowded than previous weeds. Aug. 2, Strawberry Canyon Alameda Co. 0810 at Behania Lab pen, weather: in the middle of morning ST cloud, base estimated 300' below the station, visibility about 75 yards. Fresh wind with moderate turbulence; active fog drip from eucalyptus, and wire mesh on top of the pen. 0750 Filled water hole, & left and 0754. Aug. 5.
