W.J.Francis 1963. Journal. July 29. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1210 at Beharin Lab. pen. Weather clear except for remnants of recently broken up ST over the hills. Light to moderate wind, moderate turbulence. Left pen at 1245. 1855 Returned to observation hut at Beharin Labr. Weather clear locally, ST commencing to cover hills to north and west. Light wind with no turbulence. Most of ground surface in the pen is in shade, top of enclosure in sunlight. 1925 Entire enclosure now in shade. 2000 Surrounding trees in shade. 2030 (Sunset by the clock) all surrounding including top of Grizzly Peak in shadow, local light much decreased. Ended observations at 2035. On the way home noted top of stratus about 300[illegible] feet below the level of the Beharin station. July 31. Strawberry Canyon Alameda Co. 1015 at Beharin Labr. pen. Weather: station within ST cloud base about 200' below, tops not very high as indicated by relatively bright light through the clouds. Wind very light.
