Scraped a depression in the earth under the overflow drip from the water trough to make a small pool, then returned via road, back at the house about 1210. 1705 Observing in the car near the bridge just outside the reservation gate, until 1757. Brushed tracks clear to check tomorrow's movements. 1900 Resumed station by the bridge, closed also at 1952. July 28. Left Hastings Reservation for Berkeley at 0940, mileage 433.63, and arrived Berkeley about 1300, mileage 435.07. Total mileage on this trip 720. Strawberry Canyon Alameda Co. 1400. Weather overcast with ST over the hills, base just below station level. Replenished dust bath, filled water hole, serviced instruments, and spread 1 can of Iker chew and 1 can of Pigeon Grain. Intermittent sun- snide through clouds during this period to 1425, clouds clearing. Wind moderate with moderate turbulence.
