H.L.M.R., Monterey County, Calif. rng to pick up forgotten clothing (at a cost of 63 miles and nearly 2 hours, arrived at Hunter Liggett about 1730, mileage 43173. Set up camp in back of San Antonio Mission. July 24. Hunter-Liggett Military Reservation, Monterey County. At 0830, met Mr. Fred Cook, Game Manager, at HLMR headquarters. He introduced me to Lt. Col. Peckham, Deputy Post Commander then took us on a tour of the quail areas of the reservation until noon. From 1810 to 2015 made a road census of quail in the above area, covering 8.3 miles along dirt roads from Jolon ASP to Argyle Road, to old John Store, and returned same route except for upper Argyle Road. July 25, H.L.M.R., Monterey County. at 8:40 a.m. drive over same roads again one way only, with nearly negative results. From 1015 to 1125 repeated the drive ging further up Argyle Road;
