McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co. an unidentified immature r & coterid also drinking at this water source. 1510 Returned to blind. 8cnd Day, Meadowlark, Roadrunner came to water here, in addition to species noted earlier - Jays in particular concentrated their feeding on the cattle droppings. Ended observations at 1500. July 23. McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co. 0745 Took station in the blind at Marin Spring. Five jackrabbits around the water-trough, at 0817 a young spike buck mule-deer with 6" antlers in velvet crossed along the water trough, then at 0825 came down and drank at the overflow across the fence. Ended do., at 0910. Resumed observations at 1100, relieving Ginger, who was in the process of driving 1/2 the cattle which had been drinking there. 1110 Cattle returned for another drink, then drifted slowly up the hill, clear of the water trough area by 1130. 1345 Left McMillan Ranch, at mileage 43631, for Hunter Liggett Military Reservation.
