W.J. Francis 1963. 83. Journal. July 17. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County, at Behavior lab pen at 0850. Weather overcast ST beginning to break, light wind with no turbulence. Light dew on ground vegetation. At 0915 breaks in cloud became general and sunshine covered the ground in the pen. 0930 sky clear except for 2/10 very thin scattered remnants of ST cloud. 0945 Ended obs. 1355. At Behavior lab, pen; weather clear, light wind with slight turbulence. 1418 Entered pen + set modified Bailey trap (which had been sprung by a juncos) 1615 Ended observation, springing the trap, and filling the water-hole. July 17. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County, 0950 at Behavior lab, pen, weather: sc clouds obscuring the sky with base est. 300' below the station, visibility 75 yards, active fog drip from eucalyptus trees, and water drops on the wire top of the pen. Wind moderate with moderate turbulence here, stronger in more exposed westerly situations. 1052 Ended obs. with weather about the same sky lighter and clouds intermittently lifting from the ground.
