Strong southerly wind at cloud level, moderate to light at surface, with slight turbulence. 0940 Sky cover reduced to 7/10, surface turbulence increased. 0955 Sky now completely clear. Observed quail in pen until 1115. July 16. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. In Behavior Lab. pen at 1510 (estimated time, due to watch stoppage). Weather clear, moderate wind with light turbulence. Observed penned birds until 1540, then vacated and set modified Baily trap near the water hole. - 1745 - Checked watch - 25 min. slow. Add 25 minutes to all times this afternoon. - 1920 Again observing at Behavior Lab. pen. Weather: 2/10 patches of sc, wind light with slight turbulence. Sun is above the entire pen but shining on surrounding trees.
