W.J.Francis 1963. 78. Journal. July 1. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1002 Full sun as the pen for a moment as clouds are beginning to break, wind has averaged moderate last 15 minutes. Another F has been visible from time to time in the south portion of the pen, with a F at side or top of the pen in the same general area. 1011 Two FF at once visible in A-6 and A-9 - prob- ably me in the Red rocksln. 1013 A pair visible in A-10 as Red F move up through A5. 1016 Green family in A-5 - still unable to get a count. 1026. Fair count of 12 chicks as Black F and chicks foraged in A-4, Green F perched on weeds or in clearing in alert posture. 1031 Accurate count of 13 chicks as Green family feeding in clearing. 1052 Yellow F at water hole, then went into weed patch in C-8, as a F entered same patch from the side. 1056 This pair can down into C-10 and out of sight. 1125 Serviced instruments. 1140 Clouds completely broken with only scattered remnants of sc. wind and turbulence somewhat greater, with much wind movement of vegetation in pen-
