June 21. McMillan Ranch, San Luis
Obispo County.
up-valley wind, bank of stratus
in valley to the west. This stratus
spread giving local overcast which
again broke about 0800.
1000. I completed and repaired
the blind at Marion Spring and
observed there till 1237.
1452 Resumed station in the blind.
Observed until 1917. Cattle watering
at the trough were an effective
deterrent to other birds coming in,
even though some water was avail-
able beyond the fence; some
morning doves, finches and a
blackbird got water with cattle
present, but big and large they
monopolized the water supply.
June 22. McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co.-
0825 Took station in blind at Marion
Spring. Weather clear, light wind, rather
cool out of the sun. In addition to
quail, Morning Doves, House Finches, and
Lark Sparrows were common here;
also noted Shrikes, Green-Voached Goldfinch,
Brown Tanager, and California Thrasher.
Observed here till 1158.
